The quince. A special fruit
Only the finest quinces from Baden-Württemberg are bottled for this liqueur from Stilvol. To be precise, two different varieties are used, pear quince and apple quince, which bear their names because of the similarity to the respective fruit. The sweet-intense fruit liqueur is produced in the Rems-Murr district, which belongs to the Stuttgart region. Here, master distiller Jürgen devotes himself to the sweet fruit and ensures that the full aromas of the fruits kissed by the autumn sun end up in the liqueur, which in the end strongly resembles quince jelly. So it’s great as a gift for those who appreciate mildness and sweetness.
What we have not yet clarified: Why is this quince product called Cuvée and not simply liqueur? This term is mainly known from wine production, where “cuvée” refers to the joint fermentation or pressing of different grape varieties in the same fermentation vessel or also the blending of wine lots from different grape varieties or sites. The resulting (sparkling) wine is called a blend, or a “cuvée”. So the product name at Stilvol comes from the fact that apple and pear quinces from different parts of the region are processed.
