Berry Dream. Sweet and sour temptation
Small distiller Erich processes only black currants from Baden-Württemberg for this fruit liqueur on his farm in the Hohenlohe district. In Austria as well as in South Tyrol and Bavaria, the berry is also known as “Ribisel”, and the French name “Cassis” is also frequently used in German. Although it belongs to the gooseberry family, the black currant is completely thornless. The tart, intense flavor that characterizes the fruit can already be smelled from the buds. When the berries are ripe, a pleasant sweetness is added to the flavor profile. Compared to its relative, the red currant, the black currant is larger and contains many times more vitamin C in its raw state. From mid-late July to mid-late August, the dark berries can be harvested.
If you want to bring the acid-sweet ratio of the currant liqueur to full fruition, this drink creation from Stilvol is recommended.
